The new Spectacle Lens Group high-technology manufacturing plant supports the manufacturing and delivery of advanced eye-ware using injection mold technology. In addition to a highly sophisticated manufacturing area, this state-of-the-art facility houses an entrance lobby, conference space, cafeteria, fitness center, and office support space for personnel associated with the manufacturing process. Johnson & Johnson's Energy Star Enhanced Best Practices including were incorporated into the design including fluorescent lighting systems, occupancy sensors, zone lighting control, day-lighting, building automation system, electric power monitoring on all major feeders, energy-efficient motors, high-efficiency hot water boilers, outside air economizers, and direct digital control on all chillers. The manufacturing plant was designed to accommodate expansions as future business warrants. The design was awarded the American Institute of Architects, Blue Ridge Chapter Honor Award.
